"In the shadow of technological innovation biology has leaped to the top position among the key technologies of the coming decades. Molecular biologists and genetic engineers have used the information tools of the computer age to throw open the doors beyond whose threshold lie the borderlines and taboos of our culture; yet it is on the passing of these thresholds that hopes for continued prosperity of our civilisation are increasingly relying. The DNA analysis station is a good case in point. This is where the discourse gets stuck in one's throat."
