I am going to talk about the concept of IndyMedia as an open access, global tool of communication.
Although it has been said that "the real struggles are now happening in the internet", IndyMedia is very
much about actions in the streets (public access terminals at demonstrations) and social space. The
IndyMedia UK collective sees its work as a process of collective appropriation of information
technology. We are working on the technical side, on the editorial concepts, questions of counter
information, and aim to make information technology part of direct actions rather than using it from an
observerīs point of view.
