Dr. Ivan Zassoursky (RU)

Zassoursky is researcher at the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University. Born 1974 he graduated from Moscow State University (Faculty of Journalism) in 1996 and received his Ph.D. in 1998 with a thesis on 'Russian Mass Media in Conditions of Global Transformation Processes: The Formation of the New Information System and the Role of the Media in the Political Life'. From 1989 to 1991 he worked as reporter, parliament correspondent and editor at the Studinformo News Agency and in 1994 became economics editor at the Moscow daily 'Nezavisimaya Gazeta'. Zassoursky also was the elections manager for Boris Nemtsov during the 1996 elections. Other posts included coordinator for development at "Obshaya gazeta" weekly newspaper (1996-1997), political and media adviser to Vice-Prime Minister Boris Nemtsov (1997-1998), and project manager for the parliamentary elections campaign of the Union of Right Forces (1999). In 2000 he became Director of the Communications Center of Moscow State University.
