Ries studied philosophy and media science in Vienna and Klagenfurt (Austria). He has created a variety of theoretical and formative works in the context of media, architecture and art. Ries is also co-ordinator of the content provider 'The Thing Vienna' and has taught comparative image theory at the Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena, Germany.
