Sound Artist and Composer for Dance, Sound Designer for Film

Nationality: Indian

His work primarily moves around and explores the contemporary realms of music and sound. Performance, Installation and Design are the ways where he applies and operates with his musical thinking.

Recent projects include sound design for the Mega Bollywood production The Rising (yet to be released) made by Ketan Mehta, 15 Park Avenue made by Aparna Sen.

His self designed projects are Signals untitled, an installation based on the maps from Bangalore; Metroscape,soundscape compositions from Paris metro; Subsequent hearing, a mix-media installation based on sound events in urban spaces; Itself, a commission for Saju Hari for the Snagged and Clored choreographic project at the Royal Opera House in July 2004; Whistle trees, a hidden-site installation for travelers in Andrapradesh (India).

Other choreographic projects are commissions for Imlata dance company, UK, Theatre Trust Bangalore and Apoorva dance company, Bangalore.
In 1998 he was awarded funding from the India foundation for the arts for performing art exploration project with the contemporary dancers from India and in 2001 for another project, upside down songs, on mix-media performance in collaboration with the Bauls of Bengal.

He studied south Indian music—vocal & percussion—from 1970-82 and North Indian music—vocal –for a short period of time (1984-85). He finished his visual communication studies at the national institute of design, ahmedabad in 1990 and traveled for 4 years in India, listening, playing, and recording in order to understand diverse musical traditions. As a composer his influences are from various musical and visual arts culture. In 1997 he set up his studio—Radiodrum electroacoustic in Bangalore and began practicing as a composer. At present he lives in Paris, works and shares his time between India and France.
