Re-Assembling the Urban

Recognizing the presence of translocal processes in a city carries analytic implications for how we understand the concept of the city. Understanding which moment of a translocal process corresponds to the city under examination unsettles easy comparisons for urban models centered in agglomeration versus dispersal. Secondly, examining the limits of homogenization and convergence of urban landscapes may indicate similarities and differences of whatever the cities under examination. Conceptualizing the city requires, then, a reassembling of familiar components into a broader frame.
