The Vienna Institute for New Culture Technologies / t0 was invited by the organizers of the European City of Culture Brussels 2000 to stage the lead project of the new media program. From 30 June to 30 July, 2000, World-Information.Org was presented for the first time as an exhibition.
Three parts titled "World-Infostucture", "Future Heritage" and "World-C4U" formed the World-Information Exhibiton. It took visitors on an informative and appealing journey through the world of information. Presented were the results of the research program that has been conducted in connection with World-Information.Org since autumn 1999, the work of acclaimed new media artists and historic and state-of-the-art security and surveillance technologies.
Within the framework of the exhibition program the World-Infocon conference took place. There the speakers and panelists tried to describe a world of imbalanced information channels and crossroads of content development. At the European Cultural Backbone (ECB) meeting representatives of independent culture voiced their interests and the World-Information.Org-Roundtable provided the opportunity to meet artists, net culture activists and scholars. An exciting range of events, performances, lectures, workshops and parties rounded off the program. |
